Rachel Sheehy, originally from the Sunshine Coast, is the talented designer behind label SUBvert.
A former student of the Sunshine Coast Institute of Tafe, excitement is mounting as not only does the label grow from strength to strength, but is garnering national and international in the origami folds and pleats used in each creation.
Having graduated in 2011, SUBvert debuted at International Fashion Week in 2012 as part of a scholarship provided by the event. Rachel was then selected to take part in Designers on Tour, a tour of high end manufacturing facilities in Bali and attended Indonesian Fashion Week as a VIP guest, alongside International Fashion Week & Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival director Jacinta Richmond. Not long after, Rachel made the move to Melbourne with her partner, to delve into the fashion capital and all it has to offer.
SUBVERT continued to shake up the fashion industry with its edgy modern panache drawing inspiration from architecture, textile development and couture in 2013 with its featured origami style folds and features.
Set to release her Summer2014/2015 collection later this year at the Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival, Rachel Sheehy has developed a strong and elite fashion blogger following along with clients nationally and internationally.
Talented Australian designers such as Rachel Sheehy have found their place in the competitive world of the fashion industry through involvement and recognition at the Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival. Rachel is quick to credit the event and the guidance and support of the team for contributing to her success.
Now into its 7th year, the Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival is widely recognised as the premiere fashion event on the Sunshine Coast, helping the region and its designers to be recognized for what they have to offer in the world of fashion.
This year the event will be compacted into 24 hours on the 25th of October, 2014 creating a weekend of fashion inspired events including lunches, awards, and of course the main drawcard, the Group Show fashion parades at Palmer Coolum Resort, which will draw national and international visitors as a final destination for the end of the global fashion circuit.
SUBvert will be showcasing the latest designs at the Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival along with many other talented Australian designers, and although not giving anything away about her latest creations, we are assured to see plenty of her signature use of textile.
